چکیده

Constraint satisfaction techniques provide powerful inference algorithms that can prune choices during search. Constraint-based approaches provide a useful complement to heuristic search optimal planners. We develop a constraint-based model for cost-optimal planning that uses global constraints to improve the inference in planning. The key novelty in our approach is in a transformation of the SAS input that adds a form of macro-action to fully connect chains of composable operators. This translation leads to the development of a natural dominance constraint on the new problem which we add to our constraint model. We provide empirical results to show that our planner, Constance, solves more instances than the current best constraint-based planners. We also demonstrate the power of our new dominance constraints in this representation.

Transition Constraints for Parallel Planning

We present a planner named Transition Constraints for Parallel Planning (TCPP). TCPP constructs a new constraint model from domain transition graphs (DTG) of a given planning problem. TCPP encodes the constraint model by using table constraints that allow don’t cares or wild cards as cell values. TCPP uses Minion the constraint solver to solve the constraint model and returns the parallel plan....

Encoding Domain Transitions for Constraint-Based Planning

We describe a constraint-based automated planner named Transition Constraints for Parallel Planning (TCPP). TCPP constructs its constraint model from a redefined version of the domain transition graphs (DTG) of a given planning problem. TCPP encodes state transitions in the redefined DTGs by using table constraints with cells containing don’t cares or wild cards. TCPP uses Minion the constraint...

Trajectory Planning Using High Order Polynomials under Acceleration Constraint

The trajectory planning, which is known as a movement from starting to end point by satisfying the constraints along the path is an essential part of robot motion planning. A common way to create trajectories is to deal with polynomials which have independent coefficients. This paper presents a trajectory formulation as well as a procedure to arrange the suitable trajectories for applications. ...

Dynamic Domains in Data Production Planning

This paper discusses a planner-based approach to automating data production tasks, such as producing fire forecasts from satellite imagery and weather station data. Since the set of available data products is large, dynamic and mostly unknown, planning techniques developed for closed worlds are unsuitable. We discuss a number of techniques we have developed to cope with data production domains,...

Incremental Maintenance of Double Precedence Graphs: A Constraint-Based Approach

Reasoning on precedence relations is crucial for many planning and scheduling systems. In this paper we propose a double precedence graph where direct precedence relations are kept additionally to traditional precedence relations (A can directly precede B if no activity must be allocated between A and B). Such precedence relations are motivated by solving problems like modelling sequence-depend...
